		<description>I think of the promo blurbs I&#039;ve seen for Pelevin, a cross between Lewis Carroll &amp; Aldous Huxley is about the most astute or helpful. While there&#039;s more or less everything to be cynical about regarding mainstream culture, &amp; here Pelevin is out on his devastating, hilarious own, this is in a very large sense only the incidental background to the deeper essence. Whatever situation a person is in, the higher element is the person, not the situation, &amp; this is Pelevin&#039;s greater &#039;theme&#039;, or the centre from where his art pours out. He&#039;s not writing &#039;about&#039; this centre, he&#039;s writing from it.</description>
